Today, almost everything is #online. You have the ability to find anything and everything you want—from old Brady Bunch reruns to a chicken playing the piano (yes it’s really there), to Gretzky’s record 50th goal in 1981. Technology is careening at top speed, and information is flying by us as we try and navigate the expanding and winding roads of the World Wide Web. Between tweets, pins, hashtags, and shares, information can be spread across the globe in the blink of an eye.
On any given day your messages are competing with 1.5 billion units of content, 140 million tweets from around the world, and 2 million new videos being uploaded. So how do you get YOUR audience to take a break from their internet cruising to stop and pay attention to your specific content? If you’re going to be competing for attention on social media with the next Taylor Swift, or a dog that can sing the ABC’s, you have to be putting out worthwhile and engaging information. As a business, a dog that can sing happy birthday upside down isn’t the answer. It’s common knowledge that social communications are overtaking corporate communications.
With shorter attention spans and never-ending streams of content, being able to produce succinct and visually appealing content is a MUST for any business using social media as part of their marketing mix.
Enter the infographic!
Infographics give you the ability to compile a wide range of information and tell a story that connects with your audience. Presenting facts, educating an audience about a cause or about new developments in your industry are great examples of when to potentially use an infographic and ensure your audience sees your content.
Don’t just take our word for it; a study conducted by Venngage found that in 2015 41% of marketers said that more than 90% of their content contained visual components. They also found that original images such as infographics actually get the most engagement (41.5%) compared to things like video and stock images.
At Accurate we’ve produced hundreds of infographics for our clients to showcase their benefits on their social media platforms. Check out the examples in our Infographic book for ideas on how to effectively use infographics as part of your social media marketing strategy.
