CHIEF PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICER
From Risk to Resilience.
Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer publishes its annual report on the state of public health in Canada in the midst of a global pandemic.
Every year, the Chief Public Health Officer publishes an annual report on the state of public health in Canada. Accurate was tasked with designing the brand look and feel for the report and its supplemental products
Naturally, this year’s theme was focused on COVID-19. However, it focused on much more than the virus itself, taking a holistic view of the pandemic’s broader impacts. It highlights the health inequities that already existed and how they were made worse by COVID-19. With this in mind, we felt it was essential to go beyond a simple virus graphic. We wanted to highlight those individuals and groups who felt the most significant impacts.
The primary graphic, made up of various Canadian landmarks and symbols, is meant to represent community. It also holds a visual relationship to the shape of the coronavirus. There’s a focus on Canada, but the circular shape puts everything in a global context. Within these shapes, we feature a diverse cross-section of Canadians, including those who were at a disproportionally higher risk for infection and impacts than others in Canada. We then carried this motif throughout the report and onto the social and digital assets.
