Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM)
Modernizing the Partners for Climate Protection Recognition Program.
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), in conjunction with the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) Canadian chapter, provides effective and dedicated support to Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) members to help municipalities of all sizes meet their climate goals.
The Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program is a national network of over 400 municipalities with the shared goal of taking action against climate change and reducing local greenhouse gas emissions. Members work toward five levels of achievement on their journey towards these goals.
Accurate created a new PCP membership mark for municipalities to promote their participation in the program.
In the past, members received a wooden puzzle as the award recognition piece. As they worked their way through levels 1-5 of the program, they would receive another piece in the puzzle.
Accurate redesigned and modernized the program brand and helped FCM migrate the award system to the digital space. The wooden puzzle was replaced with a series of digital recognition badges that demonstrate levels of achievement. These new digital badges allow municipalities to share their achievements to a much wider audience.
The award recognition marks are based on a five-piece leaf design. As members work their way up to level five, they are issued a new digital award mark. Colours gradually replace the grey leaves, indicating completion of a designated level.
Other visuals created to support the new recognition program included social media templates and an infographic that explains the program in detail, demonstrating the ongoing, cyclical nature of the program.
